I witnessed sexual harassment at work from a supervisor. what should i do the other party is afraid to speak? Unless your being directly effected, like getting your @$$ grabbed or the person saying "Nice rack babe" to you when they walk by, Its none of your business stay out of it you nosy person. First talk to the person who was harrassed and let them know that you were a witness. Let her know that he/she can not be fired for reporting sexual harrassment and that you would be willing to be a witness for her. Actually let her know that you would be willing to write a letter to support her claim. She should write a letter to the supervisor of the person who harrassed her, her supervisor and also to the human resources office and your letter should accompany hers. If possible it would be best to be done by email as email leaves a really good paper trail and it makes it more difficult for people to say they did not receive it. Sexual harrassment is against law and needs to be addressed. Go to the supervisor's manager, or if you're not comfortable doing that, go to HR and report them. Go to someone over the head of that supervisor. Yes I think you should speak up or try to get the other person to speak up. Even words are dangerous to a persons self esteem. It could open a can of worms but hey what is a job for??????????? Stay out of it or risk losing your job. If you speak out about it and they question the person who is harassed and they are afraid to tell the truth then you are left hanging I agree with going to the supervisor's supervisor will a complaint..there are law protecting individuals from sexual harassment in the work place Go to the supervisor's supervisor and let them know objectively what happened. Well you just tell your boss it is not legal however you can easily get fired if reported for doing this. You need to let the supervisor's manager know. Report the situation to human resources. Make inappropriate jokes about it. It matters on what happened. Can you explain what he did, or what he said. Get over it, nobody died. |
