What do I do when charged with reckless driving? How long does the felony charge last? |
Alright, first off im 20/M living in hawaii. I got ticketed last night for running a stop sign and accelerating too fast afterwards. Problem is, I was also driving under the influence and took a DUI test. Even though I passed, I had no doubts that the officer knew that I was drunk regardless of the result. Nicely enough, he let me off the hook and simply wrote me a ticket for reckless driving... He took no breathelizer test and etc. But he did ask me if i drank and i said "yes, little bit." Now what? oh yeah, that night. Officer said that he could arrest me for DUI but he didn't. He kinda left it vague... does that mean he will let me off the hook or is there a chance ill get screwed over in the court room when he shows up?? A couple of different points here, First, the Officer REALLY cut you some slack for not doing a breathalyzer. Since you only received a ticket for reckless driving, you are not being cited for drunk driving. Lucky break for you. |
