Worker compensation? |
My dad got into a fight with a co-worker in the workplace. The co-worker was constantly patting him and touching him; my dad got mad and punched him. The co-worker fought back and punched my dad in the eye. My dad has a black eye now and took one week off. The company fired the co-worker already and is considering firing my dad because he was fighting on the job. Agreed - he can be fired. But by taking matters into his own hands, he ruined his standing regarding this issue. It's understandable that any guy would take offense and want to deck somebody doing that sort of thing, but you do have to keep your head and your Dad didn't. yes he can be fired. and may not be eiligble for unemployment or workers comp due to the fact that he was acting outside the companies policies and guidelines. what kind of compensation is he thinking he will get for a black eye anyway? Yes, he can be fired, and no, he does not have to be compensated for the injury. Worker's Comp only covers injuries resulting from normal work duties. |
