Is a person's last will and testament public or available to relatives? |
Is it possible for me to see my deceased relative's will? Is it kept on file at some archive? In most states, it is a document of public record. Contact your local probate court to find out how to obtain a copy. It becomes a matter of public record only when it is filed in probate court after the death of the individual. Until then, wills are private. |
