Do you think the US needs welware reform? |
I think there needs to be serious welfare reform in that if you dont get a job your welfare check will be shrunk every month untill you get a job or go to college to help better themselves. Personnally i think that money we give to welfare needs to go to in helping the disabled and injured veterans because i see what they get and it is nothing compared to welfare recipients. civil i agree with you that there are people that do really need it im talking about the deadbeat leeches that generation after generation lazily earn free welfare money while sitting on their keister If by "welfare reform" you mean getting rid of welfare... then, yes. Yes they do and in fact I still remember when President Clinton told all of us that he would reform the welfare system and that welfare would not look the same ever. Guess what, he did nothing. There are still too many abeled people on welfare for ever. As you may know, welfare was never suppose to be a forever thing and a way of living, but a temporary way to get by until one got on there feet. A time limit on welfare with lots of support would be a way to reduce what we have now. Yes the veterans should be the ones that get the help if needed. The US just implemented welfare reform under the Clinton admin. what the US really needs is to get rid of welfare for the rich. i understand your point on welfare, but it's far more waste in our government via programs for farmers, earmarks from congress, out right fraud and waste and the like. the deal is we can see welfare folks in the supermarket on a daily basis. you don't see the farmer get an extra $2 per bushel for some artificially priced good or some outrageous amount of money not to farm some acres. you don't see that our government is literally paying folks in Iraq and Afghanistan money to stop the violence or to fight each other, and they still let them farm their poppy crops. My friend works down at the Battered Womens' Shelter and she says that 9 out of 10 women coming through there are working the system. Would not removing the 9 leeches free up more for the 1 that truly needs it? They did welfare reform and now recipients can only receive it for 2 years, or so I thought? Also, they do require people receiving welfare to obtain jobs and the Social Services Department helps them to get jobs. Alot of people do go to college while receiving welfare too. I know there are people out there that are receiving welfare because they have lied on their applications and other things and I don't agree with that at all either. However, I do know that there are also alot of people that need it and don't get it. I agree we need Welfare Reform but I think it needs to be modified so that those that do need it can get it. |
