How does Law Enforcement expect to be trusted when they admit it it legal to lie to you to get you to confess?

How do you know when they are telling the truth on ANYTHING then?

1) Havent done anything, so not afraid.
2) WIth the papers reporting of the false arrests almost daily, YES a honest person would be scared.

Police have ways of making people talk as they say, but you should not confess to anything that you did not do! Where is your lawyer?? If you have a lawyer appointed by the court maybe you need to get another lawyer. If you confessed to something you did not do that was not a good idea. You will need a good lawyer. You can't trust every body but if you KNOW someone is ling on you you should say so.

If you are innocent, there is almost no chance you will be convicted in court. Yes, they might make a mistake and arrest the wrong person, but that is the point of trials, to determine guilt of innocence.

Police can lie to a suspect in certain circumstances, but they cannot lie to the court, to a judge or jury. That is the difference, because up until it faces a jury, it is just a claim on the part of the police, not a conviction.

No, innocent people do not need to worry.

As you say, the courts have ruled a police officer can lie during an interview. So if you are ever in that position, ask for a lawyer then shut up.

This is a tactic - the police can generally be trusted to be honest in dealings with the public, just not during an interrogation.

Cops can bend the truth in an interrogation, but really if you haven't done anything, why are you worried?

These tactics take advantage of the nervousness and fear of getting in trouble that people have. An innocent person wouldn't give in to such tactics.

uh...i don't care what the police told me; if I didn't do it, I'm not confessing.

I don't care WHAT they say to a guilty party.

dont confess if you doyou are guilty even if tricked into not teling the truth
