Can someone explain how patent licensing works? |
Specifically in the tech field where it seems like everything is based off ideas developed by someone else. Do companies have to allow others to license their patents? No, they don't HAVE to license their patents. But they do, either for money, or for cross licenses to the other guys patents. check out this website www.cipo.ic.gc.ca it is Canadian but it gives the general idea how patents and trade-marks work. I just started in a law firm that deals with patents and I am still learning about them, this website is like my bible right now. |
