Unfair or not?

I had been working for walgreens for a little over 6 months now. When the store manager hired me he said that he will put me on the sales floor and work as a service clerk, because there was no opening for the pharmacy at the time. So.. i took the offer and three days later he hired someone and put her in the pharmacy.. a few months later, i asked him if i could be put in the photo department or cosmetics since he had been putting me there to fill in since we were short handed.. he said no.. i let it go...i had been going to school as a pharmacy tech here in the states and i am going to graduate this month. and i did went to school as a pharmacist in my own country... i had a talk with him and asked him if he would ever consider me in the pharmacy in the future and he said he will find another store that he can transfer me to. I waited and waited and no response. I am sick of him always trying to get my hopes up.

the girl they hired has no knowledge on pharmacy... no license.. no back ground.. and no the state where i am do not require a license..

Time to move on. Go out there and find something better. This guy is going to continue using you as long as you are their.

How many pharmacy jobs have you applied to this week? This month? Go and get your job. Start applying to all the pharmacies in the area, including the other Walgreens in the area. Your manager is only interested in what's best for his store, not what is best for you. That's his job. It is your job to go out and find someone who will hire you for a pharmacy position.

Probably time to find another store. He's not gonna give you what you want, and you might as well get out from under this manager..

It's hard to say if it's unfair. I know you're going to school to be a pharmacy tech. Does the state you live in require pharmacy techs to be licensed? Did the girl who was hired in the pharmacy complete training and get licensed as a pharmacy tech? Unfortunately, your training as a pharmacist in your country means nothing here. If your state requires a license and you aren't licensed, you couldn't work in the pharmacy. If the other girl has certification to be a pharmacy tech, then she is more qualified (on paper anyway) to work in the pharmacy. If the manager put you in cosmetics or the photo department, would it affect someone else who works there? If so, then it is not fair to them to take away their job so you can have what you want. The same could be true with the pharmacy. If there are no openings in the store where you work, you can't expect someone to be fired to accomodate you. Maybe the only way is to be transferred to another store. Maybe there are no openings in any other stores. Maybe they need to wait for you to complete training to hire you in the pharmacy. There are too many variables to say if your situation is unfair or not.

As long as you tolerate his lying, he will continue to lie.
