If bushs tax cuts only put us further in debt, why does he or anyone, think a tax check will be any different?

remember to act surprised when that tax check is gone, all youve done is pay for rent/groceries/utilities bills.....and the economy is still tanking.

because people are stupid.

At least this rebate is going to people who will spend it and give a small boost to the economic (during election time, of course.)

Bush's tax cut went only to the rich and did no good. More than 75% of the population will get more through the rebate and the costs is a fraction of the tax cuts.

Bush's tax cuts were spread as follows (includes income, capital gains and estate taxes)

Poorest 20% got $66 back (1.2% of their tax burden)
Next poorest 20% got $375 (6.6%)
Middle 20% got $600 (10%)
Upper 20% got $1026 (18%)
Richest 5% got $53,123 (29%)
