Is a person required to have a payee if they are recieving Social Security benefits and is a minor?

I am 16 in the state of Michigan. I am asking this question because I don't trust my payee to handle the money. If I'm the beneficiary, why does someone else's name need to be on the check?

contact social security right away. If you think the money is being mishandled ask social security if they will audit your payee and then that person must account for the money being spent, and it should be going for your food, clothing rent etc. Good luck

unless you have been emancipated you must have a payee.
If you think there is something going on with your money, go
to the Social Security office and request a change of payee.

Contact the case worker , the reason your name can not be on it is because you are under 18 years old , contact them or your case worker if you think the funds are being misused , they can tell you what to do. but they will not put just your name on it until you are 18 if the benefit continues past age 18 ..If the payee is putting it toward your up keep or get you through school I don't think you will have a case , but check with them to be sure

IF YOU DON'T TRUST YOUR PAYEE , THEN YOU NEED TO REPORT THIS TO THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION IN THE STATE OF MICHIGAN, YES..I THINK 16 YRS OLD ,YOU STILL NEED A PAYEE ..IF YOUR THE AGE OF CONSENT , SO CHECK WITH THEM!
