Can you tell me what kind of hearing is this?

i have waited 3 years for my social security hearing befor an .ALJ now they want to have a pre trial hearing instead of the regular hearing because of some new information about my medical condition is can they make a decision there?

Pre-trial conferences or hearings are not considered formal and it is basically a chance for the attorneys and the judge to discuss the case and figure out what will be happening in the future--such as trial or settlement.

A pre-trial hearing is also known as a settlement conference. The court wants to know if you have reached a deal or if you will be proceeding to trial. If no settlement has been made, then they will set a trial date.
