Do you think that sexual harassment laws get abused?

For example: They don't like the person, they want to get some money, or they want to get someone fired or into trouble, just about anything. I woudn't mine if a guy or girl checks me out.

I agree. If someone lies about someone else, or files a false complaint, there seems to be no consequences for the liar.

It seems that sexual harassment is based on the attractiveness of the accused. the uglier he is, the more likely he is to be accused of something.

This video should make my point:

===edit===

Yahoo won't let me post the video.

===edit2===

Yea! I got to post the video today:

Some employeers investigate, I assume, but I've seen it abused also. Report It

It makes it harder for legitimate complaints to be taken seriously. The punishment for lying should be more severe.

Of course they get abused. Some people will use anything they can to get an advantage over coworkers, bosses, etc. This type of activity doesn't just hurt them and their employer, it colors the claims of other, legitimate victims and introduces doubt into the system.

People are generally jerks.

Yes, some people will lie about anything to get what they want.

You have a beautiful smile, and I just love the way your nips pop right out and say "hello".
Oh, what?
Yeah, abusing sexual harassment laws is a damn shame. Lighten up you frigid beyotchs.

Yes, because if they like the person or want the attention, then they wouldn't think of pressing charges. So it should only hold concerning an action despite anything else, or not at all. At least until we all are telepaths.

Yes they do, definitely.

Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes......I have personally seen twelve cases where a young woman was convinced by her friends that she had a million dollar case and in every case all she accomplished was buying a couple of Lawyers a new car smearing a family name and getting herself Black listed....yes Black Listed for future employment. It is a shame too. Because there are very real cases that don't get reported because frivolous cases are publicized

Yes of course they do. I answered a question like this last week - everyone is too politically correct these days.

You cant joke with anyone anymore. If it is a SERIOUS case where your boss is making you do sexual favors to keep your job that is another thing.

I think the money thing is a driving factor too..

I think pretty much all laws get abused. It's pretty bad for the true victims (not just of rape) who can't get justice or their due because of that.

We need to stop sexual harassment!

I think a lot of laws get abused. The "hot coffee" issue for the McDonalds Restaurants; The "severed finger" issue for Wendy's. Our courts are loaded down with frivolous lawsuits all over the entire country.

I do believe that there should be some sort of repercussion for someone that's been exposed in a lie about a frivoulous/untrue lawsuit, but then by doing that, it makes it a lot harder for someone that does have a ligitimate issue to want to come forward.

Yes, of course. That's why we have courts - to decide who is lying.

Yes, they get abused, so do most other laws "protecting" people.
