Is this sexual harassment? |
My boss just called me "yummy nuts"! What did he mean by that? Should I sue? valkyries78...sounds like you need to get laid! Well, first you would have to ask him to stop or complain to his supervisor. In order to sue, you would first have to present your complaint to the EOE, and they would investigate and tell you if you can sue or not. Generally, the company has to be given the opportunity to correct the problem first. Tell him to please not call you "yummy nuts" (which I think is funny as hell). If he persists, then you will have a case. yes it is.I don't care how it was said and in what context.that's not right to say in business. yes u should sue your boss i dont know if that is sexual harassment, and if you are offended by it have you told him to stop? if after you tell him to stop he continues then its harrasment...but if you don't say anything, there's a chance he thinks you don't mind. you obviously don't understand what he means by it so there's a chance your misinterpreting what he's saying. Ask what he/she meant by it. Tell her/him if it makes you uncomfortable. If they persist then do something about it. first id ask him what he meant ,then if it sounds offensive then id do something man thats funny "yummy nuts"..... but anywhys you sould report him First, try talking to him. If that is not satisfactory, you need to go to the HR dept or whoever is over personnel. They will then try to resolve the matter. If, after exhausting all avenues of internal recourse, you can talk to someone about sexual harassment. You cannot just sue him. That will never hold in court.Did you make it clear to him that you did not like this behavior? You have to make it understood that you do not want this behavior to happen again. This can be difficult as he is your boss. He may not have meant it how you took it at all and this will be his defense or that he thought you liked it. You need to go to somebody else aside of him that you can report this to. It may end up that you or him be moved to avoid conflict. It can get ugly. However it will either stop what you consider harrassment or he might lose his job. did you ask him what he meant? if so and he gave you an answer did you act on it? to many women are shouting sexual harassment now days, some with no substance whatsoever i would ask him to stop ,your there to work, not listen to his bullshit .if he then don't stop.do what you feel is right.i don't like the way some of the laws mite be written ,because i was watch a tape on what was called sexual harassment and thought it was over kill.you are wearing a nice dress, could be taken that way,and i mite say that think i was just being nice.i don't believe in touching anyone without permission,i mite ask but a no is a no.but thats me,not your boss or other men, sorry to many of us men are jerks.tell him to stop and if he keeps it up then file your suit No it's not. Of course you could sue and probably get alot of money (and pretty much end your career). Now, if he is doing it constantly, over and over again, creating a hostile work environment, propositions you and then punishes you if you refuse, or even fires you...that's real sexual harrassment. What is yummy nuts? You just made me horny. HEHEHEHE Good luck with that, having it done just one time wont open things up for a law suit. You need to tell him to back off and if he doesnt then you can persue legal action. make sure things are well documented as well. IF you have a HR Dept let them know what is going on. |
