Is this sexual harrassment?

There is this guy at my job, who is a 33-year old unmarried male, iand he is frequently teased by the other males in his department about being unmarried and still living at home with his mother. Is this sexual harassment?

harassment yes, sexual no.

Sexual Harrassment is defined by law as:

Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when this conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual's employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual's work performance, or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment.

Sexual harassment? No... not really. Sounds like guys being guys.

no not sexual harrasment; just normal harrassment.
if they touch him in areas that he feels uncomfortable then that would be sexual harrasment.

its harassment but theres nothing sexual about it

Nope

No, and if this problem does not relate to you or if you are not his best friend..really...there is so much P.C. in the world already - We can't even say good morning without question.

No Not at all... Just sounds like people being idiots as usual

no it doesn't sound like sexual harrassment... at least it doesn't to me...

It depends on how HE takes it. If he takes it as 'all in fun' then it isn't harassment. You have to verbalize that you don't like it. If he doesn't let people know it bothers him, then he can't claim it's harassment. If he DOES tell them and it continues...he can complain to his higher ups about being harassed.

The thing is though...he's 33 and lives with his mother. He HANDS people things to pick on him about. If he were taking care of his ailing mom, that would be different but they're teasing him about something valid in my opinion, and he needs to find a coping skill and just deal with it. "Laugh WITH them" so to speak.

No. It`s "Name Slander" in which you can sue for damages.
Business is Business, when you mix personal facts with business, the company is liable for damages caused to the person.
Good Luck!

No, but it sounds like a great soap opera episode!
