Jealous jerk attempts slander/harassment - Calling my boss!!! Help!?

"Jerkface" called a workplace and told the boss that "Bob" and "Mary" (two employees) were doing inappropriate sexual things at work. This caused a huge issue at work including both "Bob" and "Mary" being put on probation, and if proven that these inappropriate acts had happened, they were told they would both be fired. Furthermore, "Jerkoff" happens to be crazy about "Mary", and they previously dated.... and this seems to be a retaliation against "Mary" for turning down "Jerkface". What can "Mary" and "Bob" do? Is this slander? Or just harassment? As it stands the whole workplace is gossiping endlessly over whether or not "Mary" and "Bob" are lying about the accusations.

Yes, it was a lie. Both Mary and Bob are denying that it happened. No, Mary and Bob are not teenagers, but the whole ordeal is very immature and seems very high-school-ish. Law enforcement has in contact. The workplace has dropped the probation threats and seem suspcious, yet are helping. Still it is difficult to prove that the phone call was infact "Jerkface". What more can be done without blowing things out of proportion??

Generally, that would be considered slander. Harassment deals more with antagonizing a person and doesn't necessarily mean that they are spreading lies about you. Also, some forms of harassment are dealt with by criminal statutes whereas slander is a civil action, not criminal.

file a lawsuit against him for slander....he,l go away!!

both..jerkface needs to have a restraining order put against him by mary...and maybe perhaps that will stop some of it.

It just so happens that I have my Business Law book right here, and I looked it up. According to the book, if what he said is not true then you can bring him to civil court and charge him for slander. If what he was saying is true then you can't do anything to him.

Make sure "Mary" and "Bob" deny deny deny irregardless of whether or not did anything. Call the LABOR board and report what you are going through because of an phone call from a disgruntled boyfriend. keep denying and deny FOREVER.

Just how is the boss going to prove this? For him to put you on probation and threaten to fire you with no proof is illegal and boardering on employee abuse. AND for the whole workplace to know about this? There is such thing as disciplinary privacy

Are you a teenager? this is where it gets good...tell your parents...hopefully they know a family friend that is a lawyer. If your work is a national company ...chain or franchise I would personally talk to a lawyer.

Don't even worry about the guy calling in and saying anything, he doesn't matter...he may have done you a $favor$ and you boss will get his *** fired lol of course you could sue both if you really want to but suing a company gets more money.
