What can someone do about harassment at work?

If someone is being harassed at work (belittled, called demeaning names, constantly made fun of, and even a public announcement of 'hate' on a company forum), what can she do? The statements don't quite fit in with most forms of harassment (sexual, racial, etc) but are still affecting the employee. Most of the comments spurn from a personal dislike from another employee (who is an executive employee) and a seemingly personal vendetta from another. What actions can be taken?

All forms of harrassment are illegal. You need to go to your boss immediately. If your boss is one doing it than he/she should be fired and you need to go to his/her boss and all the way up whatever it takes. You do not have to take that. Laws are quite clear and very tough on the harrassers. If you register your complaint get a committment that the problem will be solved and a timetable for it to happen. If it does not happen go higher. If all else fails talk to an attorney.

Just pack up n go asap, life is not worth it.

If you like this job, then you should report it. Don't use the standard form, create your own. Prepare a statement or a booklet explaining what you are going through. In the event there is nothing done, there is always someone higher than your boss or his boss.

all of the above are human rights violations as well as employment standard violations. If your supervisor or ceo and board won't do anything about it , then report it to your employment standards office in your region or state as well as make a human rights complaint.

Bullying is not just for children, bullies can be adults too. You could probably lay charges with the police especially if there is evidence on a public forum and let's face it , whether you believe it or not EVERYTHING on the net is public.

Whoever this person is needs to be held accountable for her /his actions and pay the consequences. Contact your supervisor, ceo , employment standards and human rights and if that doesn't work , lay charges with your local prosecutor.
