I was being sexually harrased at work...?

I told my supervisor and we went to the HR Department to report it. Comes out he also makes comments to another person. All my company did was make me read a letter from HR stating that I know what sexual harrasment is and that I would watch a video about sexual harassment! So i was getting sexual comments from this person and he would also make sexual noises, but I am suppose to watch a video. Now him, alll he had to do was sign a paper saying he would not get near me. That's all! I did not sugn the paper because I dod not think it is fair, What do you guys think?

I did go to the HR manager and I am a women.

First, I just want to say that I am in no way making light of your situation. Sexual harassment is a very serious thing in the workplace.

With that said, I have to ask if you are the only person that had to watch this video, or was it company wide? In most companies I've worked where there was an incident of sexual harassment, the company required mandatory training for all employees. So I'm just wondering if this is what happened in your situation.

I also don't know what your HR departments reasoning was for just having him sign a piece of paper. Maybe they are giving him a second chance, with the paper he signed going in his record. He now has a history of committing sexual harassment, and if it does happen again, hopefully he will be gone.

If you feel you are not being treated fairly in this, try talking to the HR manager about it. There may be a good explanation. If that doesn't work, go higher in the company. If you get all the way to the top and you are still not satisfied, then talk to a lawyer about what your option from there are. Make sure you have everything documented, such as who you spoke to about it and when, what the outcome was of that meeting, and so on.

I really hope you're not a man.

hire a lawyer, this happened to me and now i'm wealthy enough to never need to work again.

uhmmm okay get a new job if it bothers you that much

Talk to the HR manager

I think it's time to hire a lawyer and make your boss and HR squirm.

Well, they fixed the problem for you... they are keeping him away. That's all they have to do legally. If it continues then sue the pants off the company.
