The first person to actually receive regular monthly lifetime payments was Ida Mae Fuller. Over her lifetime, she paid something like $25 in total social security withholding, and collected around $25,000 in benefits, thus initiating the great federal pyramid scheme commonly called Social Security.

A fellow named Ernest Ackerman got a payment for 17 cents in January 1937.
