Caught shoplifting :(.......At JCpenny ?

I am a teen mom. My daughter got caught shoplifting at jc penny.she was being video taped.. she is 15,the merchandise was worth less than 100 dollars. This all happened in another city.. from where we live. The security told me to expect the paperwork in 6 to 8 weeks. this all happened around july 4. it has been 10 weeks.havent received anything.... What should i be expeting for my daughter? Probation? community service? juvinile? has never had problems with police.........................I live in california

well i hope you disciplined her yourself .

I had a friend that got caught shoplifting at a grocery store when she was 15. The food she stole was 50 dollars worth (or just about) for a party. She got 40 hours of community service and then it was deleted from her record so she could get a job at 16. But she wasn't allowed to re-enter the store before she was 18. Hilariously enough, about 6 months later that store went backrupt...

Anyhow, I'd expect community service. I know first hand. I wish you and your daughter lots of luck!

Your daughter will probably get community service and have a fine..Unless, the court decides to make an example of her. If you have not received the paper work you or your lawyers office should be making calls to find out what is going on..Since your daughter has just entered the criminal world she really needs to keep her paperwork and court dates current.

get a lawyer. Most of the time in first offense. It is community services but since she did it and she may do it again especially over 18.

Because of 911, most company will perform back ground check and if over 18, she got petty theft, she is not going to get a job.

remind him of her future.

Sometime it is not for money, it is a bad habits.

Good luck

Since you live in another city I do not believe that you will ever receive paperwork on this matter, especially since it was for less than 100 dollars. It does not pay for them to pursue this. Hope your daughter doesn't do this again.

You don't mean you're a teenager and a mum do you?! Because that would be kinda hard having a 15 year old daughter, if you were even 19 (classed as a 'teen').

Hopefully something more harsh than community service, stealing is wrong.

Same thing happend in my family, be expecting community service and arraingment since it is her first offence. try looking at a hospital to do the time at since she wont like doing labor. Also get an attorney or a public defender if you cannot afford one.
