Dont Schools have to Check ID's for Visitors?

I am a little appalled and wondering if I should contact the principal. With many attacks on our school, I think schools should have a basic security plan

I just visited my old high school to get a letter of recommendation from a former teacher for law school, i went to the visitors office to check in and all they did was right my name down, i didnt have to show ID or anything else. Keep in mind this school had 4000 students.

at the least they should have made me show identification and check in when I visited with the time and date and when I leave I should check out to make sure no one unauthorized is running around the school.

So should I file a complaint?

I would definitely. I can guarentee you that the people that were there were not following protocol. They were probably just being lazy. Make sure to let the principle/superintendent know about the situation. The same thing happened to me, when i went back to my school to get a replacement diploma. I walked around for like 15 minutes, and no one said anything to me! We just had another shooting like 2 days ago. yeah i would do something.

Maybe they should, but they don't always have to. It depends on the district.
