If "absolutley NO weapons are allowed on the premises," how is this "for my own saftey?"?

Saw the sign today in check cashing place:

"For you saftey and security, absolutley NO weapons are allowed on the premises."

I starred at that sign for almost 15 minutes trying to understand this concept. Can someone help?

Wow, would you look at these fools.

You're right those signs are NOT for your protection, they're there so the owners of those properties can put you in a federal pen if they find a pen knife in your pocket.

The basic concept is that if nobody has knives or guns, nobody will get stabbed or shot.

Of course you are thinking, well if somebody want to rob the place or the customers, they aren't going to pay any attention to that!

But ya see if you went in there with a gun, and some guys came in there with guns to rob the place, and you tried to live out your fantasy that you will always prevail with your gun, your are the first person they are going shoot at.

You are suffering from the erroneous belief that if you carry a gun you are somehow safer than people who don't carry a gun when in reality you may be LESS safe because of your false sense of security and seeming eagerness to use your gun.

At least that's what I read between the lines in your post.

Not allowing weapons minimizes the opportunity for crimes of passion where anger or other strong emotions overtake reason. It is largely for this reason that many employers do not want to allow weapons on their property.

If no one can carry weapons, then you won't get shot.

Most other countries use this concept very successfully.

Americans should try it.
