Is the Internet v2 coming?

So what we going to do about it? Say NO if fast speeds mean loss of freedoms. Unless you're stupid of course. 8Mbps is slow by standards, but I would rather be freeish...

Step 1 claim that the Internet has too many users and it is being overloaded, too much fraud etc.
Step 2 fake crashes and unreliable systems. Take some systems out to cause instability.
Step 3a claim solution is to charge users for bandwidth and impliment new systems such as Optic networks.

Step 3b People move over to V2 with the promise of faster speeds, TV on demand (requiring subscription), movies (requiring subscription), downloads (requiring subscription) under the sell of it being safer, more efficient, better security etc. Shame about the freedom.
Step 4 economy collapse, better fix that with other methods...
The fear hoarding the sheep into the pen!

"Canada is seen a good choice to implement such shameful and sinister changes, since Canadians are viewed as being laissez fair, politically uninformed and an easy target."
Sadly, I think that's true. I will be keeping an interested eye on this.

Although I DID see this response to the author from TELUS :
Thanks for your inquiry. As you know, the Internet is not centrally controlled or managed by any single company or government so the suggestion that there is a massive coordinated movement towards repackaging content on the Internet into television-like channels and charging on a per usage basis is nothing more than a fanciful conspiracy theory. The reality of the Internet is that any organization is free to try out different things to meet potential user's needs and to try to attract customers to their services. This competitive foundation ensures that consumers are driving the evolution of the Internet - companies that introduce services or impose unpopular restrictions on their customers will simply lose those customers to competitors.
