Right wing activist judges?

During the presidency of GWB we had two slots opened on the supreme court. And we put in conservative leaning judges.
Now given the recent ruling on the second amendment and municipal law (a case on par with brown v. BOE). In a FIVE to FOUR decision was made in favor of the individual right to bear arms. One vote!

One vote! In favor of the bill of rights! Four judges voted AGAINST the laws and rights they swore to uphold!

Think for a minute if Al Gore won and appointed a judge, imagine if John Kerry won and appointed someone like the president of the ACLU, an individual that does not agree with this statement:
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"

What is your opinion about the "horrible" "neocon activist judges" that where appointed to the Supreme Court, and the recent ruling on the D.C. hand-gun ban?

the 2000 election was about lawyers trying to stop the overseas votes and recounts in Florida. The absentee ballots gave Bush a majority push.

Wow--judges upholding the constitution-end of the Earth is near.

Republicans and conservatives for years have been whining about 'judicial activism', saying that judges have been 'legislating from the bench'. They also claimed to believe in States' Rights (along with the antebellum South).

The Supreme Court's intervention in the Florida recount in 2000 showed both these claims to be bogus. All along it was just a matter of whose ox was gored (no pun intended). 'Judicial activism' is where the court doesn't rule the way you wanted.

The problem we have is that Democrats appoint moderate judges while Republicans appoint extremists. The longer this goes on, the further right the center moves. The Republicans whined about -every- Clinton nomination, Supreme Court or lesser courts; they called them -all- liberal extremists, but they weren't.

To be honest I am terrified about the make up of our supreme court. They are the only thing standing between us and a society where the tyranny of the majority means that right-wingers can take away the rights of everyone else.

That being said, I am fine with the recent hand gun ruling.
