If my prints are in the Federal database, could I still apply for a PERC card? |
I'm trying to get a job in security, but my prints were taken when I was 16yo. They appear in the fed data and that is stopping me. The company said for me to send in the application with the fee myself, but will it get approved or do I have to take care of those prints with the FBI? The case was dismissed. Never had a trial. Went only as far as booking. An inside friend says there is no report in the database, just my name appears. Should I get my prints expunged first and then send in the application? Can I send it with the fee and regardless, it will be approved? My company just requires that there be no HIT in the State and Federal database. Once I have my BLUE card, I can go to work for them. So, they won't be checking it again of course. this is for Chicago. Yes, after applying they will contact you to set up a personal meeting and give you the chance to explain what happened. Bring letters of recomendation and tell the truth. You can be denied, issued or issued with a stipulation If your prints are with the FBI, my understanding is they will always be there. You can apply to have the records sealed & expunged but the prints will still be there because the FBI doesn't destroy them. If you need more definete answers I would contact the FBI and ask them. They may be able to tell you how to change the record so you would know what to do. |
