Can a child whos father passed away draw from social security? |
The childs father passed away and the child is 6 years old. The father was 27 years old rarely worked so don't know if he even paid into social security. Yes contact the social security office. They can file a claim for benefits with s.s. and see what they send back. The amount may not be very much, depending on who much he paid in during his working career. Benefits will continue until the child turns 18 years old. I would contact the SS office. Your child should be able to draw his dad's SS until he is 18, but if the dad had never worked, then I don't know if that still applies. normally, yes. You;ll need to see if father was paying into SS though. |
