How can someone get something notarized when they don't have valid id? |
My husband is trying to obtain his birth certificate so that he can get a current State ID. The Id that he has now is expired. He has a social security card. How is he supposed to get his state id if the notary won't notarize the paperwork necessary to get his birth certificate? How does someone go about getting this done? Can his social security card work? Go to the notary that is going to take care of the paperwork and ask him/her what forms of ID he will need to bring in and what will be acceptable under the circumstances of him being in lack of valid ID. Is there anyone that actually KNOWS your husband that is also a Notary? Personally knowing the individual is acceptable ID for a Notary. As social security card is NOT acceptable ID because the Notary doesn't know it is HIS social security card. If his parents are available, THEY can obtain a copy of his birth certificate. Other immediate family members may be able to do so as well. Have you asked if YOU can get the birth certificate by showing your ID and marriage license? I got mine by telling the registrar for vital stats that I needed identification to get work in order to survive and had no way other than identifying my families details for him and telling him I had no money as of not having ID to get a job....Twas the grand catch 22 he was in as if he denied me he was denying me the right to work and I could have sued him for intimidation and nuisance. I have nevere heard of having to have any paperwork notarized in order to get a birth certificate. You can usually order online. No. A notary that personally knows you can notarize. A notary who knows him can verify his signature. |
