Chances are, if the camera wasn't pointing at a cash-register or the door, then it wasn't working.

Most cameras are decoy cams, with only real ones placed in vital spots. You should be good. ;)

they do usually erase eventually, but just keep watching youtube and youll see if anyone had seen it
