Are owners of a casino allowed to beat people up?

I've seen this in movies before such as in the recent hit film "21" where these supposedly security guards or agents drag casino players into like a backroom if they suspect the player of cheating somehow and beat the crap out of the person. How come they're allowed to do that without getting arrested or anything?

It doesn't just happen in the movies. No, it's not legal, however, the victim is usually too afraid to go to the police for fear of the owners doing worse to them. And the casino owners probably have the police, judges, etc. in their pockets anyway. Plus, if you are doing something that could possibly get you in that kind of trouble with the owners, there's a good chance the police can't protect you. You were cheating/stealing from the casino, so you'd probably get arrested too.

They are allowed to do that because it's a movie. It's not real, so they can make up whatever laws they want.
In the real world, that would be illegal. But probably not prosecuted too much, because the victim would have to explain that they were beaten because they were caught trying to defraud the casino, which is also illegal.

I wish they were!

Then I'd get myself hired as Security Manager and invite Harry Reid to play at our casino.

I sounds like it's against the law to me.

its a movie
