"A well reguated miltia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to bear arms

..shall not be infringed." Why to you suppose the sentence begins with "A well regulated militia" ? Are we then just supposed to ignore that prerequisite and only focus on the right of an individual to bear arms"? This well regulated militia part is so that morons will not focus on the people's right to bear arms as pertaining to an individual person...the 2 nd ammendment gives no individual the right to bear arms ..only a well regulated militia.

Keep in mind that was written over 200 years ago.

It applies to individuals, because the US Supreme Court has interpreted it that way.

The Supreme Court disagrees with you. The argument could also be said that you are ignoring the second part about, the right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed and that morons can't understand that the term "people" was used to mean citizens, otherwise the founding fathers would have said something like "The right of a state militia to bear arms shall not be infringed upon by the federal government" When you read the Constitution you find that "People" is very specific to citizens and that term is never used to mean any government body. Even in The famous Preamble, "We the People, in order to form a more perfect union.." shows that people means citizens (the "union" would be the government)

Not only does the Supreme Court disagree with you, but the Framers themselves disagree with you.
From the Federalist Papers No. 46 (James Madison)

Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. And it is not certain, that with this aid alone they would not be able to shake off their yokes.

The whole point of the right to keep and bare arms is in effect a way to keep the Federal government from repressing citizens through the use of force.

And tell me, oh wise one, who a militia consists of? If you really want to get legal about the 2nd amendment, you, as a civilian male between 18-35 could be charged with a dereliction of duty. It is your responsibility to own and maintain a military style weapon with sufficient ammunition in the event the militia is called to arms. Learn the constitution, then preach your stupidity elsewhere.

well you didn't write the whole thing just some and if you remember back to that time the Militia was a bunch of farmers with long riffles and pitch forks who banded to gather to overthrow a tyrant government so that would mean that an individual has the right because it takes an group of individuals to make up that militia, so open a history book before trying to take my rights away, nice twist you tried though,

The issue for me is not so much the wording of the second amendment as it is the practical affects of gun ownership on law-abiding civilians. It's been pretty well-proven that the government cannot keep illegal materials out of the hands of criminals (i.e. the drug war). So do we really want those who are willing to break the law to be the ONLY ones with guns on our streets? It makes far more sense to me to allow law-abiding citizens to own guns for their own self-defense instead of shifting the balance of power in favor of outlaws.

Where were you with your scholarly insights when the case was being argued before the Supreme Court?
Name for us all the other enumerated COLLECTIVE rights of the Constitution.....

Cat got your tongue? What? They're all INDIVIDUAL rights? Oh my, how inconvenient for the advocates of federal power and/or tyranny.

30,000 gun deaths a year, the highest per capita in the world outside Iraq.

A child killed by gunfire every 8 minutes.

God bless America.

WRONG AGAIN!

SCOTUS disagrees with you, and they have the final say.
