What are the rules for security guards at night clubs?

where i live most of the clubs is located in the same street, so there's like 20 guards walking around all the time, and some times there can be like 4 or 5 guards punching and kicking one guy, but ain't there like any rules, like on how far they can take it, i mean.. there can be a guard laying on a guy and holding his arms while the other guards kick him, ain't there suppossed to be some kinda rules they have to stick to?

I think its their own rules to be honest. yeah there are bouncers who do a fantastic job, yet last night in a club i dont usually go to, i witnessed a 16 stone male bouncer yank a girl by her arm, shove her up the stairs, then throw her into the pavement. her crime? brushing past him 'too hard'. she smacked her mouth. the police just watched, and he told them she was drunk and disorderly. i've been shoved and my boyfriend has been thrown into a lampost before, just for going out for a cigarette break, by the same guy. then the police joined us, by giving us a 'warning'. this was smacking my boyfriends knees with their baton, and telling us to sober up. then they laughed along with the bouncers.

i think the whole system is pretty corrupt if you ask me, cant trust anyone. :(

Bouncers have to abide by the same rules as anyone else. That being said, they do get alot of leeway from police. They are trying to create an environment where people can get drunk and have a good time, and that is not always every drunks goal. So we have to drag them out and if warranted administer a reminder to them and others that violence against others will not be tolerated. If people do not fear the bouncers, they will take advantage of the bouncers and no one will be safe.
If they are too out of control, the bar will be sued and they will be charged.

No there are NO RULES. You screw up and you are fair game until the police show up. Get the message?
