I have a court date 2 be garnished for wages, I am on social security, and living on sect 8, food stamps.?

Could I go to jail?, what will happen with me being on section 8, social security, and food stamps. Could they empty out my apartment? Why can't they just put it on my credit record?

No creditor can garnish your social security benefits. If your disposable income (net) is $175.50 or less per week you can not be garnished AT ALL ! Nor will anybody empty your house. They can't take certain things from you, including any temporary assistance benefits you might receive. I'd be happy to answer other Q's if you have any. Email me.

In general just show up unless you are hiding unreported income and they can prove that you really should not have anything to worry about

it sounds like you are what the law calls judgment proof, I wonder why they are moving to garnish since in general your SSI can not be nor Sec8 housing nor food stamps so what are they looking to garnish?

No, you won't go to jail, and they won't repo your household goods. They probably can't execute/ garnich you social secuirty either, unless you are dealing with unpaid student loans or the IRS. There are other exceptions as well, but I am not sure what.

You owe a debt. SS cannot be garnished except for taxes or Child Support. You can go to jail if you refuse to make payment arrangements. Being on SS is not a reason to make and refuse to pay debts.

LOL a guy on section 8, SS, and foodstamps has Internet! I bet you have high speed too. Dude you owe money pay it!, stop living off my taxes, and get a job!!!!

I bet this is child support related! ROFL and T.T at the same time

Ever try getting a job and joining society?

They may give you leniency and schedule payments. I doubt they will leave you destitute.

Don't worry. SS is safe except for Gov owed debt.

what are you hiding? anything? if not, i guess you have no worries.
