I am writing to someone in prison in the uk and wanted to know if the prison keep record of anyone that writes

I am writing to someone in prison in the uk and just wondered if the prison keep record of this? Its not a problem if they do i was just curious,it is a high security prison so do they have to keep details of people that write to prisoners and who they write back to ie. would they keep my name and address on their prison records....

Yes, they probably do, and most likely they will.

I do know that they will read the mail before giving it to the inmate.

I used to be a prison mail officer, we didn't keep records of the names and addresses on mail, but it was only a min. security prison. We did censor the mail, in and out.
