Can my mother collect my deceasd father's social security and any veteran's benefits he may have?

Can my mother collect my deceasd father's social security and any veteran's benefits he may have?

Yes if she has not remarried. She should also apply for the veteran's widow's pension through the VA. If she remarried and then divorced she could still get the VA widow's pension.

If she was married ten years or longer to your father and is not currently married to anyone and if she is 62 years old or older, she can collect his Social Security. Call the Veteran's Administration to determine what benefits he had, if any, and whether she can collect them.

I am not sure how much of the Veteran's benefits she can use, but she can definitely collect his Social Security.

She can apply to collect his social security instead of her own if she is at the required age.

Social security, she'll get a one time payment.

As far as veteran's benefits, it all depends on the papers that he signed.

if she has not remarried before he died. I know at least that much. call your local social security office to get the skinny.

No. She may be authorized to collect on your father's account under certain conditions.
