Why haven't we got a written constitution?

when is everybody in this country going to realise the powers that be can withdraw all our rights if the fancy takes them, and we would be powerless to stop them. dont kid your selves this could never happen, our right to free speach is slowly ebbing away, along with our privacy in the name of "national security".

What country are you talking about? Since this is posted on the AU site, I'm assuming you're talking about Australia?

Well, we kind of do have a written Constitution... and I highly doubt there would be threat to privacy and free speech. Modernization has made us too much dependent on such rights that it is highly unlikely we'd go back in time and development.
