Social Security Card help!? |
My husband had his wallet stolen last year, and we are still trying to get this fixed! He needs to get a copy of his CA driving record from the motor vehicle bureau. He will need to obtain a "lost Ca Drivers License form." Yes and, his birth certificate and a passport if he owns one will do. A bill for a utility company, like phone or electric, establishes a place of residence. When the cards were stolen, he should have gone immediately to the DMV and gotten a replacement. The same for the Soc. Security card. Get a copy of your hubbys birth certificate. This can be done through the local clerk of courts or health department in the county he was born in. You may also need to get a duplicate of his CA license even though its expired from the CADMV. Take these documents to the SS office and get him a new card. Then take tha card and go to the UTDMV You need his birth certificate and any kind of supporting evidence of his identity. Look for job ID's or hospital records, bills, that sort of thing and take it all to the SS office. A notarized copy of his birth certificate should work for the SSA Contact legal aid for advice. Or an attorney if you have the money. Talk to the DMV to see what other forms of identification you could use. Most will allow an abundance of identification to make up for the lack of ID you have available. Such as utility bills, birth certificates, marriage license, etc Did you file a police report on the stolen wallet? The police report which will contain his information should be helpful as well. If you can get the state ID you can easily get the social security card again.......it's a pain in the a** but you'll be able to do it. |
