Social Security Card help!?

My husband had his wallet stolen last year, and we are still trying to get this fixed!

In his wallet was his SS Card and his California Driver's License. Because we live in Utah, we didn't have a way for him to get a replacement DL, and it expired soon afterward.

Now we are up against a wall, trying to get him a Utah DL and/or a social security card.

We've been told by the SSA that we need a federal ID to get a copy of his card, and by the DMV that we need a SS Card to get him any kind of Utah ID.

What can I do? I have my information, and our marriage license, and our daughter's birth certificate. Can any of that help?

We've tried everything we can think of so far. Help!

He needs to get a copy of his CA driving record from the motor vehicle bureau. He will need to obtain a "lost Ca Drivers License form."

It should have his picture, name and birthdate on it. He may have to appear before a notary to sign a statement that he is who he is before sending it off to CA by certified mail. It will be the equivalent of renewing his expired license.

The problem is that with so many illegals in this country trying to find out new and ambitious ways to get ID's it has become nearly impossible for real Americans to prove who they are.

Good luck!

Yes and, his birth certificate and a passport if he owns one will do. A bill for a utility company, like phone or electric, establishes a place of residence. When the cards were stolen, he should have gone immediately to the DMV and gotten a replacement. The same for the Soc. Security card.
Social Security is nothing to fool with, and has nothing to do with the DMV, contact your local Social security office, they are in the book. Explain what has happened, they will give you instructions for obtaining another Soc. Sec. card. Your husband's place of employment can help. They will have records with his SS that can be verified and it establishes employment.

Get a copy of your hubbys birth certificate. This can be done through the local clerk of courts or health department in the county he was born in. You may also need to get a duplicate of his CA license even though its expired from the CADMV. Take these documents to the SS office and get him a new card. Then take tha card and go to the UTDMV

You need his birth certificate and any kind of supporting evidence of his identity. Look for job ID's or hospital records, bills, that sort of thing and take it all to the SS office.

A notarized copy of his birth certificate should work for the SSA

Contact legal aid for advice. Or an attorney if you have the money.
Could you renew your Ca. DL?

Talk to the DMV to see what other forms of identification you could use. Most will allow an abundance of identification to make up for the lack of ID you have available. Such as utility bills, birth certificates, marriage license, etc Did you file a police report on the stolen wallet? The police report which will contain his information should be helpful as well. If you can get the state ID you can easily get the social security card again.......it's a pain in the a** but you'll be able to do it.

and CYA.....next time keep your social security card at home in a secure location so you don't have to worry about it being misplaced, lost, or stolen again.
