A woman sues airport security and police for 10 million for only takedown?

http://www.yahoo.com/s/915576

This woman was sueing the airport security just for takedown only and the problem was that she was refusing to do what the cops requested how was she expecting the cops to response to her? She was not doing what the cops wanted in the first place so what right does she have to even sue a cop going as far as 10 million bucks...if the cops requested to search her she should have complied...It pretty seems like she wanted to use this as an excuse to get rich.. what do you think?

She's even lucky the cops didn't use tasers on her..

Well, the beauty of American jurisprudence is that you can pretty much sue anybody for any reason, but there is no way this woman is gonna win. In this day and age the cops had to take her actions seriously since she refused to comply. Security is very important at Airports and if we don't have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior than its too great of a security risk. If she had just complied there would not have been any problem. The cops were completely justified when she all of sudden started reaching into the bag they were searching, she could have been reaching for a detonator for all we know.

Like they said on the video: There is no nice way to detain someone.

Anyone can sue anyone for anything. That doesn't mean she can win. It just means she has the ability to write a complaint, pay the filing fee and present it to the court. You can be pretty much assured that her complaint doesn't allege the same things as you have said. Now, the other side defends and the court decides. See how it works?

You can sue all day long, there is still a judge and jury, which have the final word.
The problems are the lawyers, who take this frivolous lawsuits on and block our judicial system with it.

I think people have been beautifully trained by our judicial system to 1) hate law enforcement and question every move they make, and 2) to sue sue sue.....it's cheaper to pay a settlement than to fight a lawsuit, no matter how frivolous, so the plaintiff always gets $$$$$.

The tape is damning to the officer(s) at first review, but after a second look, this woman is reaching into her bag - it doesn't matter for what, right or wrong, that is a huge NO NO. This would have gotten a gun in her temple in some metropolitan areas on a traffic stop. I think the officer actually showed some restraint, in this instance. This rule applies for a simple traffic stop, and multiplies exponentially at an airport security check. You CAN go to jail for being stupid....ask anyone who has been convicted as an accomplice....

This particular woman SHOULD have been harrassed - she speaks the language, she knows the rules, and she knows how not to borrow trouble - also, she does have a first ammendment right to say (almost) whatever she wants, even to a cop- actually, especially to a cop. But she was stupid, and hot-headed, and wrong, when she attempted to reach into her bag. Dumb, dumb, dumb, especially in an airport.

Not all cops are good, but most are - those who aren't should be prosecuted according to their crimes. Not all civilians are good, and those who aren't shouldn't profit from their bad behavior. The sad turn is, if the cops hadn't acted as they had, another passenger would have sued for some sort of disruption of their trip, a bad day, etc. So pathetic.
