Income tax question, need advice!?

My mother takes care my of son, I pay some of her bills and help out with food and stuff. I have never given her checks and I normally pay the bills cash because she doesn't believe in electronic paying methods. For the past 2 years I have gone to Jackson Hewitt for them to do my taxes "right". In other words I don't know much about doing taxes and don't want to get in trouble. They have asked me the past 2 times how much I give my mom for "day care" I told her really it's not much but it's not a set amount. She asked if it was under 3000k a year and I said yes. We came up with an amount a bit below and she plugged it in. I told her I didn't have any receipts or anything to prove she watches him..but she really does. She does draw social security and this was my main concern I didn't want to get her in trouble. They said as long as she made under 3000k she didn't have to report..so I would be fine. I was only given a 500 credit each year for this more than half went back to

them in fees. This past year with the stimulus checks coming out my mother had to report in order to receive a check. My sister took care of it with out telling there fore never put in there the amount I was claiming!!! So now I'm freaking out and I don't know what to do? I did pay extra for the 100% gaurantee at jackson hewitt...but what are the steps I need to do. If I have to pay it back I will I just don't want to get fined..Please help!

HUMM I assume they reported that you paid her more than $3000.00 in day care money, but I don't know how much did they report. They may not have reported any day care money at all because your mother with her social security money was entitled to the stimulus payment based on those wages alone. Your mother is allowed to make a certain amount of money even though she is on social security. It is up to $940.00 a month and she can do that for 3 years. Did she claim the day care money and if so how much are the questions you should ask your sister. If you paid Jackson Hewitt for the guarantee you should be okay but sometimes they don't honor their committment either. I have a friend that is having big time problems with H & R Block and them honoring their guarantee. They totally messed her taxes up and are doing nothing about it.
