Shoplifting in connecticut/massachusettes HELP?

okay so i was a freaking idiot and accidentally shoplifted in boston the other day. i had this manila envelope with a bunch of my resumes in it (because i had been applying for jobs earlier) and put it down on a tray of jewelry in urban outfitters while i tried on some sunglasses. anyways, when i left the store i beeped and the manager opened the folder and saw a necklace, which had gotten attached to a staple on a mapquest direction printout i had in there. i was as shocked as him and denied it but of course he didn't believe me and took me upstairs to fill out some forms. they took down my license information but i'm from connecticut and this happened in mass, so i'm wondering what the charges will be. also, i gave them fake mailing information but the right social security number, so how will that affect me? and i was never arrested and the police never came, so how bad will the charge be against me or are there any to begin with?

i hate my life and really need help :(

ALSO i'm 21, so if there are charges how long will they stay on my record and is there anyway i can get them removed?

For something so little probably not. Most of my friends that shoplifted only had to pay a small fine to the store or they also got banned.

BAD idea to give SS number then fake mailing.. HORRIBLE IDEA.

that's pretty much admitting that you stole even though you said you didn't.. so its theft.. if they want to press charges they can.. most places won't though
