Is there anything legally wrong with this situation?

I answered an ad for a bedroom with a personal bathroom in a home where they weren't expecting too much in rent. In fact, for the space, area of town and convenience of it all, the homeowner could be asking for twice the amount, and it would still be a bargain.
The problem is this: the homeowner is a single man, much older than me (elderly), but a little too independent to see his responsibility to my comfort, i.e. his world his rules. He has quite a way of being way too inviting in matters of personal space. He constantly infers conclusions about my sex life, offering to "hook me up", still uses the shower in my bedroom and invites himself to it while I'm at work with no thought to my personal security. I was given a key to the bedroom, which when used prompted him to consider quite seriously terminating the arrangement. This was on the 6th day! He isn't unsociable, just not very graceful in my opinion.
Am I wrong to expect things or should this have been more thought out?

OMG........Get out of there and get out NOW.Just because he is a senior dose not mean he is not a threat to you and HIS interferrence in your life.....in ANY and ALL aspects is out of line. That is harassment and it is up to you to stop it,or report it.
RED flags should have gone up when you knew the rent was lower than the place is worth as nothing comes for free darlin.Too good to be true is just that...........it's a lie.....Please get out...........

If you are not doing anything destructive to your space, then he has no right to enter it, or use the shower. You may speak with him, and work this out. As he is elderly, he may be needing company, and socialization. However if he can't stay out, then tell him you will be seeking other accommodations.

There is nothing legally wrong with this situation - yet. However, if you stick around to find out what his intentions are (as if we don't know) you may have a legal issue and a lot of embarrassment to deal with. Get out!!

Although not illegal (yet) I think I would be looking for another place. Sounds like this guy has an agenda. You may want to look for hidden cameras too.

No you're not unreasonable and he is pushing the limits, especially in terms of entering your personal space.

Elderly people are often living in life long habits, you have little or no chance of changing them. But maybe he hasn't opened up his house to room-mates before, and doesn't understand what he is doing is just wrong.

Try having a talk with him. You need to know whether you are a boarder (his rules) or a roomate (negotiation.) Either way, he has no business going in to your room. It is rude and invasive.

If you don't get anywhere, find somewhere else. These little things have a way of getting nasty in time. You don't need it.
