Structured settlements?

in 2003, my daughter had a case settled for malpractice. i recieved documents shortly after about her structured settlement acct. since then i had a fire as a result i no longer have those documents.I just recently i recieved notice from the structured settlement specialist requesting my daughters social security number and he also indicated to me that my daughters acct has not been fully set up due to a lack of info that her attorney failed to provide. i tried to reach the attorney but was told that his liscence has been suspended during 2003. my daughter is approaching the age to recieve her money, my question is what do i have to do for her to recieve it. who should i contact since the attorney who handled the case is not reachable, and the settlement specialist is not much assistance either????--- please help

If your daughter was a minor child when the settlement was reached then the court would have had to approve it and a guardian ad litem would have been appointed by the court.

Go to the court clerk's office, look up the file and get the documents you need.

The insurance company who handles the "structured" settlement would have all of the information as well.

Get the court records.

Suggest you contact your local bar association. If the lawyer had his license suspended all his files would have been taken over by the bar associations (that is the professional organization of lawyers) They would have your daughter's
file and be able to get the information to you. Check the
internet for bar associaton of whatever state or province your lawyer practiced in and contact them. Good luck!
