I need to legally change my name since I got married, do I start out with the social security office? yes start with social security. you'll need your marriage certificate. Then change drivers license. Then change bank accounts, bills, etc. Hi there. depending on which state you reside within, you have to contact your local court and apply for the name change (fees vary). Then, the Judge "grants" your request and you can follow up with IDs, SS cards, etc., when the "official" certificate (?) is available with your new name. In Florida, where I live, it is automatically changed unless you don't want to change your name. I went and got my license changed first and then my SS Card. Start from anywhere. Please explain to me why you "need" to change your name just because you got married. |
