Do security cameras in places like rite aid actualy work?

i mean those bubble cameras on the ceilings. it seems pretty fake to me.

and dnt jump to some outrageous assumption accusing me of theft or robbery. YA'ers tend to do that.

it was just a question out of curiousity

They are fake, I work for one of the companies that makes them.

They are real. The bubble is there just to keep you from being able to readly see what direction the camera is pointing. There would be no reason to use fake cameras as they are so cheap the price difference wouldnt be worth it.

I was just at menards and they were selling them for a couple of hundred bucks and they were real nice you could see the monitor screen and it was real clear.

If a couple of hundred buscks can get them a conviction on a shoplifter then they are going to spend the money as loss prevention is one of the biggest expenses companies have to cover in their operating cost.

The price you see on items you buy has an amount built into it to cover the amount of goods stolen in the store for the year. Since they want to be competative with the other stores they want to keep their losses down

some do , some do not.
Actually they are getting phased out due to new micro technology.
Cameras these days are inserted into the lights in smoke detectors or eyes of manikins.Wireless digital broadcast. If you know the frequencies and have the right software , you can actually veiw the images from your own laptop in the parking lot.

Judging by the surveillance videos I've seen working in a prosecutor's office, yes, they definitely do work. Is the video theater-quality? No, but it gets the job done.

The bubble cameras are actually the best cameras since they can see 360 degrees. I do not know of any business that actually uses a fake camera when the real ones are very cheap to buy now.

Yes, but randomly. Not all at the same time. It is impossible to tell which is working at any given time.
