Can A Social Security Disabily Check Be Attached?

Can A Social Security Disabily Check Be Attached?

Only by the IRS.

If you owe for taxes, student loans, and certain court-ordered fines and restitution, they may attach the payments, yes.
For satisfaction of a civil lawsuit they can try to attach it, but it would be rather pointless. You would simply file for an exemption based upon the fact that this is your sole source of income and you are making less than the poverty limit for your state and then they wouldn't be able to touch it.

If it is your only source of income, your SS can only be attached for child support, student loans and the IRS.
But,if you have a joint bank account with someone else, they can go after that. In order to protect your money, make sure that you have your own bank account and the only money in there is from SS.

Attached to what? We are on disability pension and they dont send them in the mail, they used to but not anymore, in australia that is, its deposited into your bank account! :)
