Stopping Social Security Checks? |
ok my dad get socail surcity checks for me and ow i am curently not living with him and he is not supporting me so how do i go about with contacting Social Sercurity and telling them that he is no longer supporting me and to stop his payments. I left out because of he was beating me but i didn't contact the police i just moved in with my brother. So how do i stop my fathers checks.........and can my brother receive them for taking me in? You can Google Social Security and call their 800 number. The other thing you can do is look in the local phone directory for SSA and call the local office. If you are getting SSA checks that you don't deserve, there will be an "over payment" someone will have to pay back. Are you the disabled person or is your father? If you are the disabled person, then you should go to the SSA office and ask their help in getting you a satisfactory payee. If your brother is an adult, then he can be your payee. Perhaps you have another trusted relative? If your father can't be trusted to act in your best interest he should not be allowed to get your SSI checks. Tanesha, how old are you? How old is your Brother? What I would suggest is to contact the Social Security Office and the Child Welfare Office, they will be able to help you and transfer the funds. The question I have here is why is your Dad receiving social security checks for you. Is he disabled? You need to make sure this is the move you want to make befor you pursue. Go home and when he is beating you then call the police. I'm sorry. The legal guardian receives the Social Security checks for the minor, and even when the minor has moved out, the guardian still has legal responsiblity, so he will continue to receive the checks. Trying to get even ain't gonna do jack for you, or to him. Have your brother petition the court for guardianship. When he is issued Temporary Letters of Guardianship (This is the documentation prior to a hearing on the guardianship) take them to the social security office and then he will get the checks. |
