I shoplifted. I have no excuse. I was stupid and made a bad decision.?

The security guard took my details and banned me from the shop. Will I have to pay a fine if the police weren't involved?

If the store asks you to pay a fine, they are basically offering a settlement agreement in which they agree not to file criminal charges in exchange for your agreement to pay them the amount of money indicated. You are not legally bound to pay the fine, but if you don't they can file charges.

At least you appear to be showing some remorse and know that what you did was wrong. If the police weren't involved then that will probably be the end of it.As others have suggested it may be nice to get the shop owner/manager some flowers and maybe write a letter saying that you're sorry and thanking them for not contacting the police.

you may have to pay a fine, but since the police weren't involved, you got off lucky. out of curiosity, what did you steal?

one time, i guess you could put it as stealing, i was at this arcade place (yeah i know =P) and i was playing a game and i saw this card (its an arcade where you swipe cards and play) and i grabbed and it and i was going to use it. i got half way through the swipe when i heard the people next to me looking for their card. and then they saw me have my card half way swiped and i took it out and i gave them back the card...then the lady got mad at me and it was a little girls card i think...i felt soooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad after that and i dont even want to do something like that. yeah i guess you could say it was a small thing to have "almost stolen" but my concious became heavy and i felt really bad. i dont think i ever want to try and take something that isnt mine...ever! ugh...

No. If the police didn't arrive at the scene, and you weren't issued a citation, you won't have to pay a fine.
I suggest avoiding the shop and never doing that again. It's just not worth it. If you owned a shop, you would not appreciate people stealing from you. Everyone makes mistakes and hopefully learns from them.

no, it cant be inforced unless it is done via the courts, as its down to the store to report you to the police then you will recieve a fine if it can be proved and you will get a criminal record....
the secret is dont get caught or even better pay your way

no - you only pay a fine if the police actually come to the scene. also if it ewas your first time, even if the police were involved you would just get a caution. shops usually dont prosecute one off thiefs. hope this helps!

Hi!

You were VERY lucky not to have been arrested!

Heave a huge sigh of relief and don't be so stupid again.

No you won't have to pay a fine.

No but don't be so stupid in future. Put another way if you were going to commit a crime what would you rather do, steal millions or a packet of sweets. Now do you see how stupid it is.

You should do something for the shop owner if you feel bad...
Don't do it again, ok?
What did you steal btw? Just wondering...

Good Going,
I think you have a great future in Robbery or something like that.

cant do the time then dont do the crime

No, but stop now you have had a fright. you could end up in prison if you get caught too many times

No.

im guessing you'll pay a fine, but what shop was it?

You're making a confession online?
