A nurse threatening to call security on me at a private hospital ER because I walked out of my room?

This nurse threatened me with security because I walked out of my room. I had been sitting waiting for my radiology results. Not one nurse came into my room or offered any kind of pain medication after a cyst ruptured in my brain.

As I was leaving because the Dr. was finished with me, she yelled at me to go back to my room RIGHT NOW or she was going to call security on me. I asked her for her for her name after she turned her badge around to hide it. I told her she was being abusive and adversarial with patients and that I was going to write a formal complaint.

As I was checking out in the lobby, I heard her on a loud hailer calling a "CODE YELLOW ER" I have no idea what that means but assume it was because she was pissed off because I called her out on her abusive behavior.

Is this a violation of patient rights?

I was asking for her name to fill out a patient satisfaction survey given by the hospital. It has a space for the names of your attending nurse and they physician that saw you. It allows you to rate your experience by circling a smiley face or a frown in the categories. So, that is why I feel it was reasonable to ask her to identify herself.

Yes. Write your letter of formal complaint.

And congratulations on getting out of there alive.

I think it is. Where were you, Craven Regional Medical (Murder) Center, New Bern, NC? Your problem sounds just like you were there.

I'm not sure if it's the same in that hospital, but where I work a code yellow is a bomb threat.
