What would spark an uprising in the US?

I am by no means calling for such an idea, this is just out of pure curiosity I was discussing it with my brother and he thinks that if the dep't of homeland security keeps passing laws, limiting civil liberties that may spark an uprising. I also heard that if obama was to be attacked by a white supremecist, or god forbid even killed I think that could lead to an uprising. Becuase he, at least he reminds me of Robert Kennedy, he has so much potential and so many good and new ideas, I just hope nothing happens to him.

So what are your thoughts?
(If you're gonna say "it's not gonna happen" then don't post, I know it probobly won't happen but this is just one of those "what if" questions I can't help but let my mind wonder about.)

The uprising has already started....its just in a civil manner....as long as homes go into foreclosure, gas prices rise and unemployment rises...people will riot when faced with starvation, homelessness and bankruptcy.......add a major storm like Katrina into the mix and you will have your uprising....a lot faster then a Klansman with a rifle.

Yeah, he reminds me of Bobby Kennedy, too; both jerks. I guess Bobby Kennedy being McCarthy's right hand man doesn't bother you a bit but yet you think that the Patriot Act is limiting your civil liberties. What civil liberties do you have that's been limited? Talking to terrorists in the Middle East about "uprising" without a free pass? Get real!

When the media can no longer report the "news". When people are no longer entertained by broadcast programming, and when there is no super bowl.

An uprising will not happen until its too late.

I think the only uprising we would see in this country is if we were invaded than we would probably have different factions fighting in america and if we were to regain our counrty again then there would probably be an uprising on to who would control the U.S temporarly until a president would be sworn in.

This pathetic nation has been brainwashed into thinking the system it has now is good and the best there is....there is no way the citizens could force change..it will remain a good ol boys club.
So stop thinking any president will work for any changes or betterment...it's all a dream.
The time for govermental change is now and I dont mean electing someone who is going give dinner scraps to shut you up.

I think for the most part that the people of our country have become to complacent to uprise, but I suppose if we turned into a police state where government troops came to your doors to search your house and sieze assets unwarranted that might do it, or a nuclear catastrophe at the hands of our government.

i agree obama has similar passion to that of robert kennedy. I think if Bush makes a law that allows him to run for a third term and then rigged the election there would be an uprising

First, Obama does not have new ideas they are just old liberal qualities. Second, no it would not cause an uprising because the assassination of Lincoln, Kennedy, or any other leader has not caused an uprising in a country

A protest at both the RNC and DNC Conventions before the Presidential Election. It appears both parties have candidates their voters are unhappy with. Myself included. :-)

short of martial law being enacted prior to January 20th 2009, and even then I doubt anything would take place. Too many kool aide drinkers, too few patriots.
