Is my mom stealing my social security? |
When I was eight, my father died. He got social security for me to live on. Now she isn't poor, but when I was fourteen, she kicked me out. She paid me child support, but I barely saw any of it in the house I was living in. Then she bought a truck with the social security. She says when I turn eighteen, she is going to buy me a car and a laptop, but she's going to take it out of my social security. And afterwards, she stated I wouldn't see of that money, because there would be nothing in the account. Is she stealing? Should I report her? The money is for your mom to help raise you. If she's not using it for your benefit, that is fraud--she never should never have kicked you out of the house at age 14. You should definitely talk to the social security office to find out what you could do about your situation. The fraud hotline # is 1-800-269-0271. If you are no longer living with her, she is required by law to report that information to the Social Security Administration. The benefits should have stopped being paid to her at that point. You should contact the Social Security office in your area and inform them that you are no-longer in her care. Let them know when you had stopped living at the residence and, inform them that she doesn't support you financially anymore. Any payments she received while you were no-longer in her care will have to be paid back to Social Security. This could easily run into the thousands. She would be smart to just pay you for your silence and give you all the remaining checks that come in. It would be better for her to pay for your silence, than to be convicted of fraud and thousands of dollars in back payments and penalties. You might want to ask her for the money, but I suspect that, since you are a minor, it's up to her to determine how to best spend the money on you. Yes! Absolutely Yes- on all counts. Report her. I think your father would want you to have the money and a mother who houses you. Because this isn't possible- Get the money. Did you notice she didn't specify what kind of car or laptop? Heck, either one might not run. The courts will make sure you get the money you are owed. They can track down that sort of thing. Yes, you should. If you are not living with her and she is cashing your check, then she is a thief. Bust her now so she can start paying you back. She will live through the whole thing. The money was intended for you...not her. Take her to court plus she needs to be reported to the Social Security Administration. You have been getting systematically ripped off. yes, yes, yes, and......yes. Good luck! Yes report her now yes she is i hope you have luck and get a labtop and a car soon :D YES She is taking your money-Repot her! shes screwing u over. |
