Socail Security checks and child support?

My husband has a 3 year old son from a previous relationship.
the Ex is filing child support on him and she is trying to take it back to birth.
The first year of his son's life, my husband was on social security due to his seizures.
My question is...
Can they tkae it back to birth if he was on Social Security?

It is going to depend on your state's rules. I live in Ohio. I filed for child support when my son was 18 months, I didn't begin to receive it until he was 3. They only required the child support to be paid from the date that I filed for support, not the date of birth. The representative from child support told me that although he may be morally responsible to pay from birth, he was only legally responsible from the date I filed.
