Man Arrested For Spanking Camel At Vallejo Theme Park

An unsuspecting young camel at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo was smacked on the rear by a suspect who was apprehended by police after a brief pursuit Sunday afternoon. A 16-year-old boy told security officers that he had witnessed a young man enter the area near the camel exhibit and whack a 1-and-a-1/2-year-old dromedary named Dekar, according to park spokeswoman Nancy Chan.

The witness said he saw the suspect enter through the southwest side of the 135-acre park, climb over a wooden retaining wall and reach through an iron gate to slap the Dekar's rear, Chan said. The camel exhibit is on the side of the park adjacent to Lake Chabot.

The witness then told one of the park's educational guides who reported it to security. The suspect fled, but security officials did a park sweep and were able to detain the suspect and his friends near the lakeside pavilion area, Chan said.

I believe this may distract PETA from trying to ban horseracing and circuses..... I love animals, hate that they get abused, but what happened at the Kentucky Derby was an unavoidable accident.

Well, for horse racing, they have no standing ground. But some training for circus's have shown to be abusive....too bad most of the cases were circus's from countries we can't do anything about. Like the Russian Bears, etc, etc.
Next thing you know they will complain that you teach your pet to fetch a stick...or make the cat use a litter box.
Time for Peta to get a real life and go do something relavent.

Only one person abused that camel and only he is acountable for his stupid actions. The media said the camel was fine and in fact I happen to know that camel as my son worked there and took care of it for a while. Leave Peta out of this. Six flags treat there animals very very well and never abuse them at all.

It's worth a shot, what do you have to lose. Also, I doubt that if this is sent to PETA they will forget about the horse races. Not that this isn't important, to them EVERYTHING is important.

ANY form of abuse is wrong, no matter be it a human, an animal, an insect, or ANY sentient being. And violence breeds violence.

So if a human being feels it's all right for her/him to slap a camel, then that person needs to be punished for that violent act. And authorities should be made well aware of this person and her/his subsequent potential to do greater harm.

As for PETA -- and OTHER animal rights groups -- it is ESSENTIAL to expose ANY animal abuse, anywhere, anytime, by anyone. If you don't care about our voiceless friends, then surely you should care about humans who act this way.

There is NOTHING funny about what this individual did to that innocent camel.

Oh, and crazy people live EVERYWHERE, not only in the Bay Area.
